REDLINE
I went to Carlton yesterday night to Cinema Nova for a Japanese movie, the REDLINE. Madhouse don't disappoint people on animation. I used to like The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars and many old Madhouse's works because of the simplicity in drawing and outstanding characters interactions. Although story lines sometimes a bit boring (such as Kobato), I enjoyed the cuteness and warmth this little girl gives. (I really wanted to rage at Nurarihyon no Mago, how bad can your animations be?) The story plot was simple, a bunch of drivers risked their lives for the championship in the Redline competition. Winning wasn't easy, because drivers were allowed to arm themselves with any weapons! The story was far to simple so I better not to spoil the rest of it. CG involved anime can never compete with hand drawn. Every single scene is like a stunning art. ;A; It reminds me the huge flying paper bird in Spirited Away, those paper was drawn piece by piece from human hands, cool work there, Studio Ghibli. Not only the animation was epic, music and sound effect was amazing too. I can hear breaths and all kinds of little sounds in real life, even the cracks when sitting on chairs sounded so real. May was totally impressed. Too bad that the story was too typical and descriptions about characters was insufficient. I guess its hard to include everything in almost 2 hours. It might be one only Jap movie I watch in advance than the Japanese, it isn't showing until October, hahahahaha. I was very satisfied. :D Trailer Related links Official Website http://red-line.jp/index.html |
